Woman treated for broken arm
Manitoba’s police watchdog agency is investigating the circumstances surrounding the arrest and injury to a woman.
On Sunday April 30, 2017 RCMP from Beausejour arrested a female under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. During her arrest she sustained an injury to her arm and was taken to hospital. Medical staff confirmed the woman had a broken right upper arm. At this point she was transferred into Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre and admitted for further treatment.
The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) is required to investigate all serious injuries that happen with police involvement and a broken arm is defined as a serious injury within the regulations that mandate the IIU.
