Manitoba’s police watchdog agency the Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) is looking into a case that involves RCMP officers from Thompson.
According to the IIU a 16-year-old female was arrested by police in Thompson on October 8, 2019. During her arrest she was uncooperative with officers and force had to be used to take her into custody.
On October 12, 2019, the teen went to hospital in Thompson complaining of a sore arm. An examination determined the female suffered a dislocated right elbow and a fractured to her right wrist.
RCMP advised the IIU of the incident on October 16, 2019.
Under regulations the IIU is mandated to investigate serious injury which is what a fractured wrist is considered.
