On Monday March 2, 2020 RCMP were called to a home in West St. Paul for the report of a distraught male with a firearm.
The male had left the home before officers arrived on scene but police were able to locate him driving a vehicle near Pipeline Road and the Perimeter Highway.
Police initiated a pursuit and chased the man to an area near King Edward Avenue. One of the pursuing officer then shot at the vehicle’s tire in an effort to stop the man.
The man was taken into custody without injury.
RCMP reported the incident to the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) the same day it occurred.
IIU civilian director Zane Tessler has determined that it is in the public interest for an investigation to take place.
