The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) will be taking over an investigation from Winnipeg police after a police-involved shooting lat Friday Night, January 28, 2022.
Police say at 11:10 pm officers responded to the report of two men fighting outside the 200 block of Princess Street.
As officers arrived an assault with a weapon was in progresss. The suspect was not complying and one of the officers discharged their weapon hitting the suspect.
The suspect in his 20 and the assault victim, a male in his 40s, were taken to hospital in unstable condition. Police say the suspect is in stable but guarded condition and the victim has been upgraded to stable.
