Manitoba’s police watchdog agency the Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) is looking into a case that involves a serious injury to an arrested female by Winnipeg Police on Wednesday August 11, 2021.
According to the IIU, officers responded to an incident on Forbes Road at approximately 8:49 am. Once there they found a female with a knife. Officers place her under arrest and force was used to do so. The female was taken to hospital where it was determined she had a fractured humerus.
As a fractured humerus is considered a serious injury the IIU is mandated to investigate.
