On August 15, 2017, the Dakota Ojibway Police Service (DOPS) arrested a 33-year-old woman for driving and criminal code offences. She was taken to the Portage La Prairie RCMP detachment to be held in custody. While being processed she received an injury that cut her forehead.
Although the woman was not seriously injured the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has taken over control of the investigation.
