Winnipeg Police are investigating a fatal collision that claimed the life of one adult female and injured five others.
Around 1:30 pm Saturday afternoon, September 26, 2020, officers with the traffic unit attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle when sped off at the high rate.
Seconds later according to police the vehicle collided with a van at the intersection of Boyd Avenue and Andrews Street, about two blocks from where the traffic stop was initiated.
Four people from the vehicle that was hit and two people in the vehicle police tried to pull over were taken to hospital in critical and serious conditions. An adult female from the vehicle that was hit died from her injuries.
The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has taken over the investigation due to police involvement leading up to the crash.
