Manitoba’s police watchdog the Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) is investigating after a female alleges an Altona police officer pointed a gun at her while she was being transported from Altona to Winnipeg in December 2015.
The IIU was alerted to the allegation by the Altona Police Service immediately after they became aware of the accusation during the week of November 12, 2018.
Zane Tessler, the civilian director of the IIU has determined it is in public interest to investigate the incident even though there were no injuries.
