The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is investigating an alleged hit and run between a vehicle and a pedestrian involving an off-duty RCMP officer.
The incident happened around midnight on December 30, 2023, in Nelson House. Officers interviewed a male who claimed he had been hit by a vehicle in. the community. As the investigation unfolded officers discovered the driver of the vehicle involved was an off-duty RCMP officer from another detachment.
RCMP reported the incident to the IIU and the civilian director determined it was in the public interest to investigate.
