The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is investigating a police-involved shooting that happened in Thompson on October 25, 2021.
According to RCMP, they had responded to an incident at approximately 2:45 pm on Princeton Drive in Thompson when they encountered a male armed with a knife.
Police say that during their encounter with the male an officer fired his gun striking the male. The male was taken to hospital and is in stable condition.
Due to the injury being caused by the discharge of a firearm by a police officer the IIU is mandated to investigate.
