The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is looking into a collision between a Winnipeg Police Service marked patrol unit and a civilian vehicle that happened on April 16, 2023.
The collision happened at approximately 6:00 pm on Monday, April 16, 2023, at the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Donald Street. The driver of the civilian vehicle was taken to hospital and treated for a fractured rib. The two police officers were taken to hospital, examined and cleared medically.
As a fractured rib is considered a serious injury the IIU is mandated to investigate.
