Hydro union set to hit the streets Friday

Unifor Local 681 that represents 230 natural gas workers at Manitoba Hydro have advised the crown corporation that strike action will begin at 6:30 am on Friday, June 17, 2022.

In a media statement Manitoba Hydro said that they have a contingency plan in place to respond to emergencies during the strike that includes responding to natural gas leaks and other emergency repairs.

The utility said that non-emergency repairs will be delayed.

Meter exchanges and appliance inspections may have to be rescheduled during the strike. Customers with issues concerning gas water heaters, ranges, dryers or furnaces will be directed to contact a local appliance dealer or repair shop.
