The controversial land deal between the city and Manitoba Hydro may move forward. Hydro approved the sale at the board level and actually decreased the asking price by $1.5 million to $19 million. That price could be further reduced to $11.7 Million if the city is willing to transfer some road right of ways back to hydro.
The city had originally said that they had a deal with Hydro for $4.6 million. This new option will at the very least more than double the original reported price for the land.
Winnipeg Transit maintains that they need the land deal signed off or they will not be able to start the pre-construction process this year.
Mayor Bowman and councillors are in closed door sessions today to discuss the deal.
