Scammers are up to their old tricks and this time round they are spoofing Manitoba Hydro phone numbers to get to your money.
These scammers are sophisticated, warns Manitoba Hydro, and they call unsuspecting customers telling them that their accounts are in arrears and need immediate payment.
If you talk to one they will pretend to look up your address and account information then request an arrangement for payment of your bill.
Manitoba Hydro NEVER accepts payment over the phone, through wire transfer, credit cards, gift cards or PayPal. If the caller requests payment immediately in this form it’s a scam.

You may also receive a message on your voicemail from these fake representatives requesting you call another number. Manitoba Hydro only has four numbers for customer service: 1-888-624-9376, 1-866-890-3856, 204-480-5900 and 204-480-5901. Hydro warns customers to never call any other number about your account.
