The Manitoba RCMP have confirmed that human remains discovered during the search of the Prairie Green Landfill have been positively identified as those of Marcedes Myran of Long Plain First Nation.
The confirmation comes as part of the ongoing humanitarian search and recovery mission initiated by the Manitoba government, at the request of the families of Marcedes Myran and Morgan Harris. The RCMP have notified Myran’s family, and the Manitoba government has reiterated its request for the public to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.
The search, a collaborative effort between the Manitoba government, the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, and the federal government, was launched to recover the remains of Myran and Harris. Myran’s remains were one of two sets recovered during the ongoing search.
Last week, the province announced that the other set of remains belonged Harris.
