House Fire on Kinver Avenue Sends One to Hospital

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a significant house fire in the 100 block of Kinver Avenue on Friday afternoon, resulting in one individual being transported to hospital in unstable condition.

Crews were dispatched at approximately 4:50 p.m. following reports of a blaze at the residential property. Upon arrival, firefighters initially adopted a defensive strategy to combat the flames from the exterior. Once conditions allowed, they transitioned to an offensive attack to directly tackle the fire within the home.

While firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, paramedics on scene provided medical attention to one patient. The individual’s condition was deemed unstable, necessitating immediate transport to a local hospital for further care.

It took several hours for crews to bring the situation under control, with the fire officially declared under control at 8:10 p.m.

The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services (ESS) team was also deployed to the scene to offer temporary support and assistance to residents displaced by the fire.

While no damage estimates are yet available, the home sustained significant damage as a result of the fire, smoke, and water exposure.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the WFPS.
