At 11:48 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire at a one-storey house in the 400 block of Aberdeen Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered smoke billowing from the residence.
Crews initially entered the house to launch an offensive fire attack but were forced to retreat due to deteriorating conditions. Firefighters then fought the blaze from outside, using hose lines to apply water. The fire was brought under control by 12:44 p.m.
One individual was rescued from the house and assessed by paramedics before being transported to the hospital in unstable condition.
Damage estimates are currently unavailable, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
