Hotel staff find loaded handgun in guests room

Winnipeg police have charged a 22-year-old female and a 22-year-old male after a loaded handgun was found in their hotel room on February 14, 2023.

According to police cleaning staff found the weapon when they entered a room where the rental period had expired and the guests had failed to checkout.

Police went to the hotel to investigate and while there the two guests who had previously stayed in the room returned. They were placed under arrest.

The handgun was a .40 calibre Glock with an extended magazine and an auto sear. An auto sear is used to convert the gun to be capable of fully-automatic fire.

Both suspects have been charged for their alleged involvement with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition  and Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm.

Both were released on Undertakings.
