Hospitals suspend visitor access to protect patients and staff

On Thursday afternoon, March 19, 2020, the province announced the visitor access to Manitoba hospitals has been suspended.

The move comes in an effort to protect hospital patients, staff and volunteers from the COVID-19 virus.

Exeptions for compassionate reasons will be made on a case-by-case basis but those visitors will have to adhere to vigilant screening. Only one visitor per person may be admitted with approval of individual facility managers in some departments.

Pediatric patients will be allowed to have one parent or guardian visit at a time after they pass the screening.

The current confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 remains at 17.
