Homicide Unit Arrests Suspect in Connection with Murder on Selkirk/McKenzie

The Homicide Unit of the Winnipeg Police Service arrested a suspect at approximately 5:00 p.m.

The deceased victim has been identified as 31-year-old Eric Yuefi Fong of Winnipeg. Family notifications have been made. The suspect, 21-year-old Shayden Duck McFayden, also of Winnipeg, has been charged with Second Degree Murder and several firearms-related offences.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Fong and another unidentified male were walking in the area of Selkirk/McKenzie when McFayden, who was in the vicinity, confronted them. McFayden allegedly shot Fong and chased the second male, who managed to escape on foot.

The identity of the second victim remains unknown, and it is unclear whether he sustained any injuries during the incident. The police are urgently seeking to identify this individual to ensure his wellbeing.

The Winnipeg Police Service is appealing to anyone with information regarding this incident or the unknown victim to come forward.
