RCMP have arrested a 31-year-old MacGregor man for allegedly breaking into a Portage la Prairie home.
Police say that the suspect had kicked in the door to the home just after midnight on January 21, 2021. The male resident went downstairs to find out what was happening when he was attacked with a conducted energy weapon. The suspect then fled. The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault.
Police say that the resident and suspect knew each other.
Officers drove to the suspects home in MacGregor, about 37 kilometres west of Portage la Prairie, and placed him under arrest.
Brandon Pratt has been charged for his alleged involvement with Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Breaking, Entering and Committing an Offence, and Fail to Comply with Release Order Condition to not own, possess, or carry a prohibited weapon.
Pratt was released and will appear in court at a future date.
