In the early hours of December 25, 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a distressing home invasion in the 1700 block of St. Mary’s Road. At approximately 3:01 a.m., police were called to the townhouse where they discovered a 36-year-old male victim suffering from serious injuries inflicted by an edged weapon.
East District Patrol officers, with support from the K9 Unit, quickly arrived on the scene. The suspect had fled prior to their arrival, leaving the victim in critical condition. Emergency medical care was immediately administered by the officers until Winnipeg Fire and Paramedics arrived to transport the victim to the hospital. The victim’s condition has since been upgraded to stable.
The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation, actively seeking information to identify and locate the suspect. During a subsequent incident in close proximity, East District General Patrol officers arrested a suspect. The individual was handed over to the Major Crimes Unit, where it was confirmed that he was allegedly involved in the earlier home invasion.
Jonathon Yetman-Levasseur, 19, of Winnipeg, has been charged foe his alleged involvement with Break Enter & Commit Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon, and Failure to Comply with the Condition of Undertaking. He is currently detained in custody.
