Winnipeg Police have arrested two male in connection to a home invasion on June 15, 2018.
Police say that just after 2:30 pm received a report that two men had forced their way into a suite in the 700 block of Dufferin Avenue. They confronted a male in the residence, fired a shot at him which missed and hit a wall. The victim was then hit over the head with the gun.
The suspects then stole several items and fled. As they were running away down a back lane one of the accused tripped resulting in an accidental shot being fired from his weapon.
Investigators located one of the suspects at his home on June 18, 2018, and placed him under arrest.
The 17-year-old male was charged with Break Enter & Commit Robbery – Dwelling House, Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence, Disguise with Intent, Fail to Comply Condition Undertaking by Judge/Justice
On Friday, July 6, 2018, the second suspect was located in the 400 block of Alfred Avenue and arrested.
Derek Donald Franklin, 36 from Winnipeg, has been charged for his involvement with Break Enter & Commit Robbery – Dwelling House, Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence, Disguise with Intent, Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order (x3)
Both accused were detained in custody.
