Holiday Checkstop Program nets arrests, tickets and warnings in week one

The Holiday Checkstop Program is underway and Winnipeg Police Service have released the results of the first week of enforcement.

Officers stopped 883 vehicles, conducted 591 roadside breath tests which resulted in eight warnings and six fails. Five people were charged with Impaired Operation related criminal charges and one was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Police also issued 28 Highway Traffic Act tickets.

The program will run until New Years Day.

There is a simple way to avoid impaired driving… IF YOU DRINK ALCOHOL OR USE DRUGS, DON’T DRIVE
