The man facing multiple sexual-related charges in connection to sexual assaults between 1993 and 1995, while working as a coach with the Assiniboine Park Hockey Association, has died.
Robert (Bob) Donald Joseph Dawson, 57, was found dead at a St. James area hotel on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Police say that foul play is not suspected.
Dawson had been charged by police in September of 2021, after two former players came forward and reported being sexually assaulted at Dawson’s home. Both survivors were in their early teens at the time of the assaults.
The pair alleged that they had been given money and alcohol and that the incidents had been videotaped and photographed.
Police had executed a search warrant at Dawson’s home on September 1, 2021 and charged him for his alleged involvement with two counts of Sexual Assault, two counts of Sexual Exploitation, two counts of Sexual Interference, two counts of Forcible Confinement, Possession of Child Pornography, and two counts of Makes, Prints, Publishes or Possession for the Purpose of Publication any Child Pornography.
