Pedestrian struck and killed by hit and run driver

A man in his 30s has died after he was critically injured in a hit and run collision

The victim had been walking in the area of McDermot Avenue and Sherbrook Street just after 8:00 pm on Friday, November 16, 2018, when he was hit by a car.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries soon afterwards.

Police say that they have not been able to identify the victim and are asking the public for help in identifying him. He is described as an Indigenous male standing 5’9″ tall weighing approximately 200 lbs with brown eyes and longish brown hair. He had a slight beard on his chin. He does not have any obvious tattoos or piercings.

 

 

The victim was wearing a grey, twill baseball cap, a waist-length black leather jacket (St Vital Midgets Hockey patch on left breast), a waist length dark blue vinyl windbreaker (Canadian Utility Construction patch on left breast), acid wash blue jeans (size 36×30) and blue Skechers runners (size 10.5).

The driver of the vehicle took off but police located it a few blocks away and have identified the driver.

Charges have not been laid yet as members of the Traffic Division continue to investigate the collision.
