Feds and province to spend $291 million to improve Manitoba highways

More than $291 million has been earmarked to improve eight Manitoba highways.

Our investment in these highway projects re-enforce the Province of Manitoba’s commitment to support economic growth and will have a positive impact on Manitoba’s economy for years to come.
-Ron Schuler, Infrastructure Minister

Minister of Rural Economic Development Bernadette Jordan and Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler announced the funding on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.

“This extensive work to create safer, more fluid travel on Manitoba’s highway network will help local businesses compete, allow residents to spend less time on the road, and make it easier for tourists to explore this beautiful region. said Jordan. “We’re proud to support projects that promote a higher quality of life and long-term economic prosperity for all Manitobans.”

The money will be spent on improving more than 350 kilometres of roadway and involves repaving parts of the Trans-Canada, PTH 2, 3,5,6, 10 and 16.

New lanes will also be added to Highway 75 as well as along a six-kilometre stretch of Highway 6.
