High wind warning for south shores of Lakes Manitoba and Winnipeg

Manitoba’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre is warning that high winds for the south basin of Lake Manitoba as well as near the shores of Gimli and Victoria Beach on Lake Winnipeg could result in water levels rising.

Forecasters say that wind from the northwest developing Friday could gust up to 70 km/hr with resulting wave action increasing lake levels as much as five feet or more.

Property owners are advised to take precautions.
