High wind effect warning issued for Lakes Manitoba and Winnipeg

The provincial Hydrologic Forecast Centre is advising that high winds will develop overnight Friday and continue into Sunday, November 1. These winds may result in high wind effects along the south basin of Lake Manitoba as well as along the shorelines near Gimli and Victoria Beach on Lake Winnipeg.

The wind will blow from the northwest and may gust up to 90 km/h. Wave action could increase levels by as much as five feet or more.

Property owners are advised to take precautions.
