A 46-year-old convicted sex offender was released from Stony Mountain Institution on Monday, December 23, 2019, after spending a year behind bars for breaching his long term supervision order.
Burton Randy Thomas is considered a high-risk to re-offend say the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit (MIHRSOU)
Thomas was convicted in 2010 for a 2007 sexual assault against a 17-year-old female.
According to police, Thomas has a history of sexual. violent and other offences.
His criminal record includes two convictions for sexual assault, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of assault, assault cause bodily harm, assault with a weapon, assault peace officer, utter threats, criminal harassment and numerous breaches of probation.
Thomas is expected to be living in Winnipeg. As part of his release conditions, he is subject to a lifetime weapons ban.
