Police are warning the public about the release of an inmate from Stony Mountain Institution today.

Considered a high risk to re-offend, 45-year-old James Sheldon Jasper is subject to a three year supervised probation order and lifetime weapon prohibition orders.

Jasper has been convicted of numerous sexual offences against children in the past, and while he has participated in sexual offender treatment in the past, the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit believes he continues to pose a high risk to re-offend.

They feel all children, particularly male children, are at risk of sexual violence from Jasper. 

Jasper is expected to live in Winnipeg following his release.
