Second fire in high-rise since September sends residents outside

Another fire in an apartment building at 7 Evergreen Place sent one person to hospital with undetermined injuries in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 8, 2017.

In September a fire followed by a water main break on several floors had residents receiving letters from the building owners telling them to leave. Later the residents were told that they could stay until the City of Winnipeg ordered them out.

Firefighters evacuated the building as crews battled the blaze on the 14th floor. Fire officials say that the fire was contained within one suite.

Cause of the fire has not been determined and there has not been an estimate of damages given.

The fire is under investigation.
