Heavy Rainfall Expected to Hit Southern Manitoba

A significant rainfall warning has been issued for the region, with heavy rain expected to start tonight and continue through Saturday afternoon. The weather system, a strong low pressure tracking northwards from the Dakotas, is predicted to bring total rainfall amounts of 50 to 60 mm.

The heaviest rain is expected to fall on Friday, tapering off throughout the day on Saturday. Accompanying the rain will be northerly wind gusts up to 60 km/h, adding to the severity of the conditions.

Residents are warned of possible localized flooding in low-lying areas. Motorists are advised to turn on their lights and maintain a safe following distance if visibility is reduced while driving.
