One man was taken into custody and several weapons were seized by police following a call in Winnipeg’s west end this afternoon.

Winnipeg Police responding to a weapons call went to the area around 4 p.m., surrounding a house in the 600 block of Sherburn St. between Wolever and St. Matthews.

People already in the area were told to stay in their homes and Sherburn was blocked to traffic.

At its height, around 12 police cruisers were on the scene as was ARV1, the police armoured tactical vehicle.  One armed officer took a position on a nearby roof.
