On Wednesday Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews were called just after 5:30 am to a strip mall in the 800 block of McLeod Avenue after a fire was discovered inside a restaurant.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and immediately launched an offensive attack. They were able to contain the fire to one unit and declared it under control by 5:57 am.
The restaurant suffered significant damage from fire, smoke and water. A unit next door also suffered water damage.
Fire officials say the no one was in the building at the time of the blaze and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
