Southern Manitoba is under a heat warning as temperatures are expected in the mid to high 30s with high humidity making it feel like its in the mid 40s
Environment and Climate Change Canada issued the warning Friday morning as a ridge of high pressure brings in hot humid conditions. The humidex is expected to exceed 40 on Saturday.
Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can be dangerous and and it is wise to take precautions to avoid heat related health issues
- Take frequent breaks from the heat, spending time indoors at cooled buildings (including malls or indoor pools).
- Drink plenty of water and other non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages to stay hydrated.
- Do not leave any person or pet inside a closed vehicle, for any length of time.
- Reschedule outdoor activities to cool parts of the day
Although the forecast shows it cooling off slightly on Sunday temperatures will still be hovering around the 30 mark for most of next week.
