Health Sciences Centre Children’s Hospital is restricting visitors after a number of serious respiratory illnesses in infants.
Hospital officials say that since September they have seen upwards of 45 cases respiratory viruses within the facility.
Only parents and caregivers will be permitted access to the paediatric and neonatal intensive care units.
Officials also warned people to keep infants away from crowded public places like shopping malls and schools where there may be others who are sick. They say that frequent hand washing is the best defence to avoid spreading germs.
