RCMP say one female is dead after a head-on collision on Highway 9 on Friday, January 10, 2020.
It happened about 1:30 pm two kilometres north of Sandy Hook.
Investigators say a driver of an SUV was heading northbound when the vehicle in front began to slow down. As the 43-year-old female attempted to slow down icy road conditions caused her to veer into the southbound lane to avoid a collision with the vehicle in front of her.
As she entered the southbound lane she collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle being driven by a 61-year-old female from Gimli.
The 61-year-old was taken to hospital but soon died from her injuries.
The 43-year-old female driver and her 39-year-old female passenger in the SUV were not injured.
Police say that drugs and alcohol did not play a factor in the collision.
The investigation continues.
