Hazardous material spill under investigation by Workplace Safety and Health

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was kept busy with a hazardous material spill on Wednesday morning, February 1, 2023.

At 10:46 am emergency WFPS HazMat crews responded to an industrial building on Scurfield Boulevard for the report of a spill.

Firefighters specially trained to deal with hazardous materials donned personal protective equipment and then entered the building. Using specialized equipment the firefighters cleaned up the spill and ensured it was safe for workers to re-enter the building.

Two people were injured by the spill. Both victims were assessed by paramedics at the scene and taken to the hospital in stable condition.

An investigation into the cause of the spill is underway by Workplace Safety and Health.
