Handi-Transit changes name, ads new app for customers

Winnipeg’s Handi-Transit has a new name and an updated system to improve service.

The new name was selected after a year-long campaign that involved stakeholders and the Handi-Transit Policy Advisory Committee. Winnipeg Transit Plus was selected as the new brand for the service.

As part of the rollout in early 2019, a new scheduling system will also be implemented. RouteMatch features an online app, call-out notifications, and individualized registrant web portals which will enable customers to schedule their own trips.

“I’m pleased we’re moving forward with these important improvements to Handi-Transit service” said Councillor Matt Allard, Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works. “Handi-Transit’s new name, Winnipeg Transit Plus, more accurately reflects the City’s fundamental commitment to equality and providing inclusive customer service.”
