Half of new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday are from Winnipeg

Manitoba Public Health announced 18 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. The total number of lab-confirmed cases stands at 1,232.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 2.2 per cent.

Seven of the new cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region, two new cases in the Southern Health region, nine cases in the Winnipeg Health region.

Two of the cases announced today are at the Assiniboine Centre at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. This brings the facilities total to three residents and two health-care providers.

Public health says that 14 of the cases announced today are close contacts of previously-announced cases and one is related to travel.

14 people are being treated in hospital with one case in intensive care.

There are currently 459 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 759 people listed as recovered.

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 is 14.

569 laboratory tests were completed on Monday. According to Manitoba Public Health, the total number of completed tests since early February is 138,060.

Two additional potential exposure sites in Brandon have been identified. The first is at Warlock Tattoo, located at 2324 Park Ave. in Brandon. The second exposure is at the East Side Mario’s at 1570 18th St. in Brandon.

Starting today (Sept 1) all visitors arriving at health-care facilities in the province are required to wear a non-medical mask. This includes all outpatients attending clinics within hospitals or health centres.
