Winnipeg Police responded in force after receiving reports of shots fired on Corydon Avenue shortly after 1:00 am on Saturday, October 23, 2021.
Witnesses tell News 4 that a male was acting “jittery” minutes before he pulled out a gun. One of the bullets hit the front door of Bar Italia shattering the glass. The suspect continued to fire his weapon as he crossed the intersection.
Police said that at this point in the investigation they do not know if the suspect had intended to target the bar or what his motivation may have been.
Officers were seen looking for and marking the locations of shell casing along Cockburn Street North on the south side of Corydon shortly after the shooting.
No one was injured during the incident and Winnipeg Police said that they have one male suspect in custody.
The name of the suspect has not been released at this time but police said he will be facing multiple charges related to the incident.
Corydon Avenue is closed in both directions around the crime scene and police are expected to remain on the scene for several more hours.
