Gun call placed school on lock-down and diverted area traffic

Winnipeg Police responded to the Grant park area just after 2:30 pm on Thursday, June 19, 2019, after the report of a firearm on the roof of a Guelph Street home.

Police cordoned off the area, notified nearby Harrow School prompting an immediate lockdown and diverted traffic for over an hour as the incident unfolded.

Members of the Tactical Support Team surrounded the home while Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews stood by on Taylor Avenue.

The occupant of the residence exited a short time later and was taken into custody.

The weapon retrieved from the roof turned out to be a single-shot 12 gauge shotgun

Alviso Carmine Lanzelotti, 53, from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations, Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized and two counts of Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order.

Lanzelotti was detained in custody.
