GUN CALL | MEN THREATENED BY “UZI”, POLICE DEPLOY ARV-1

On Wednesday September 21, 2016 around 9:00pm Winnipeg police received a report of a man with a gun in the 600 block of Notre Dame Avenue.

Police were told that three victims had been parked in their vehicle behind an apartment block when they were approached by a man and threatened.

The male suspect was quickly identified and he was believed to be in a residence in the area. Police attempted to contact the man but he did not respond.

Police treated the inability to contact the man as an armed and barricaded situation. They called in the Armoured Rescue Vehicle (ARV-1) to help them gain entry into the home safely.

Police arrested a 52 year old man for his alleged involvement in the incident.

A search revealed an “Uzi” style replica BB gun that was believed to have been used during the initial encounter.

The suspect has been charged with:

Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm x 3

Pointing a Firearm x 3

He was released on a Promise to Appear.
