A 75-year-old guard was attacked on Saturday, September 18, 2022, while working in the RCMP cells in Steinbach.
According to the RCMP the Corps of Commissionaires provides the guards for the cells and when the guard was delivering a beverage to a prisoner in one of the cells the prisoner grabbed the guard’s arm and pulled it through the opening in the door used to provide food. The guard sustained substantial injuries, was treated in hospital and released.
Chase Paul, age 20 from Selkirk has been charged for his alleged involvement with Assault causing Bodily Harm. He remains in custody. Police say that he was in the cell at the time of the incident on a remand warrant for Mischief.
