Pay station at Grace Hospital may have had ‘skimmer’ installed says WRHA

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) has put out a warning for people who may have used a parking pay station inside Grace Hospital over the weekend.

Hospital officials issued the warning for anyone who may have used the parking machine located in the main lobby between Friday August 9 and Monday August 12, 2019, to monitor their bank accounts for unauthorized activity.

The WRHA says that they were contacted after someone claimed they had seen a ‘skimmer’ attached to the machine over the weekend. A ‘skimmer’ is used by fraudsters to steal debit and credit card information when a purchase is made.

Although there was no ‘skimmer’ on the machine when it was inspected officials with the health authority say they issued the warning “out of an abundance of caution.”

Winnipeg Police are investigating.
