Crown Services Minister Ron Schuler announced today that he has sent out framework letters to Manitoba Hydro, Manitoba Public Insurance and Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries.
Manitobans expect Crown corporations to provide top-notch services efficiently and effectively,” said Schuler. “These framework letters outline the terms of engagement for the Crowns and outline, in an open and transparent manner, how our government will work with these corporations, without political interference, to further improve services for Manitobans.”
The province will work these agencies and other key stakeholders to review the Crown Corporations Public Review and Accountability Act. This is being done in a effort to find ways to improve transparency and more clearly define the government and corporation roles and responsibilities.
The government is looking for ways to reduce red tape, improve procurement/tendering practices, and developing stronger advertising and sponsorship models.
