Officers promptly arrived at the scene and seized the firearm. As per standard procedure, all found firearms are treated as loaded to ensure maximum safety. The firearm, which was rusted shut, was carefully disassembled at the detachment. Officers were then able to confirm that it was not loaded.

The origin of the firearm and its potential connection to any criminal activity remains unknown. The Gimli RCMP continues to investigate this matter diligently.
