Two males were arrested by Dauphin RCMP after they allegedly attacked and stabbed a 36-year-old Gilbert Plains man. Gilbert Plains is about 350 kilometres west of Winnipeg.
Police say that just after 11:15 pm on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, the accused knocked on the front door of the victim’s home. When the door was opened the pair attacked the man stabbing him in the upper body. The pair then stole cannabis from a table inside the home and fled in a vehicle.
Police located the suspects parked on the side of Highway 5, just west of Grandview. Officers were able to take the pair into custody but not before a brief altercation occurred.
A 21-year-old male and a 17-year-old male are facing a number of charges including Aggravated Assault, Robbery with a Weapon, Resisting Arrest as well as failing to comply with conditions.
The male victim was taken to hospital and is currently in stable condition.
Police say that the suspects and the victim knew each other.
