The Manitoba government is hoping to entice vaccine holdouts with $2million in prize money.
On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, Premier Brian Pallister announced the Manitoba Vaccine Lottery. This new lottery will consist of two draws over the coming months and are open to those who get their first and second dose of COVID-19 vaccines.
“Vaccination is the fastest way to overcome COVID-19 and safely restore our services and activities,” said Pallister. “Urgency is important. We need Manitobans to get vaccinated to protect each other and protect our health-care system. The sooner we get vaccinated, the sooner we can get our lives back. This lottery gives Manitobans even more reasons to roll up their sleeves – not once, but twice.”
If you receive your first dose before August 2 you are automatically entered into the first lottery draw. If you receive your second-dose before September 6 you are entered into the second draw.
Each lottery will draw will have three prizes of $100,000 up for grabs in Winnipeg and a $100,000 prizes in each of the remaining health authorities. There will also be 10 draws for $25,000 scholarships for those aged 12 to 17 across the province.
The lottery is being conducted by Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries.
